Leslynotes.com is a free resource for expectant couples. This onlne class started in 1998. Your instructor is, viola - me, Lesly Federici. I am a certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator (LCCE). Find out more about me here.

This online childbirth class was created to provide the Internet community with information on preparing for labor and birth. The information offered here encompasses the philosophy of Lamaze (R) International that birth is a normal, natural process! My own philosophy will reveal itself as you read these pages. There are discussions on relaxation techniques, journaling as a way to release tension and worries while focusing on the positive aspects of your pregnancy, even hypnosis, breathing methods, tips for dads, and music. There is also a new method begining to take root on the East coast, Calm Birth. The hospital where I teach is the FIRST hospital to teach this method. So, this is very exciting. I am one of its certified instructors too.

"Natural" childbirth is an experience left up to you, your body and mother nature. Usually no medications or medical interventions are used. It is possible to birth naturally! I've witnessed it! And, it's absolutly amazing to see a baby being born even if the mom uses medications (called a "medicated" birth)! BUT, if you choose medications-that's alright too because it is YOUR right to choose the kind of birth experience you want or need!

This online class is a supplement to your actual childbirth education class. If you are unable to take a childbirth class, this site will provide you with information about childbirth preparation, relaxation techniques, and more. Look at the classes to see what is offered and when. There are also teleconferences. Check the schedule and fees are very reasonable.

Watching these videos combined with this site will give you a good foundation in what to expect during your childbirth experience and ways to prepare for it at home. Certainly going to a live class is best because in a "live"class setting you'll learn how to do the breathing methods, and relaxation exercises that can not be effectively taught here. You must also remember that there are many teaching styles. Usually all childbirth education classes are consistent in information. What is usually unique about them is they depend on how your instructor teaches the material and the philosophy of the TYPE of class it is - Lamaze (R), Bradley(R), etc,. you've enrolled in.

I hope what you learn here will be positive and enhance your education and birthing experience. And, as you tour the "e-class", you'll see there is a strong belief in the connection between your state of mind and its influence on physical responses in your body.

Let's be honest, going to a childbirth education class is not on the top ten list

of things to do, right? But is is VERY important! When you seek information about childbirth classes it's usually close to your due date. Do yourself a favor - don't wait to prepare for birth! This is unlike anything you'll experience physically and emotionally. Be POACTIVE and learn well way before the baby comes. Childbirth classes are also the first steps towards parenting too. What you learn and experience in these classes can affect your:

decisions

life and relationsships

parenting

confidence

How it works

Tour the e-class randomly following your particular interests, or you can follow the numbers along side the headings on the menu to your left. The numbers next to the headings are meant to guide you through the information in an organized manner. The topics are meant to flow into the next to build on the information presented earlier. You'll get the most out of it if you follow it consecutively. The choice is yours.

The topics will provide information and discussions with explanations when needed. There are also suggested readings from other sites that you can access immediately, which is the intent.
